Department of Navy HBCU/MI Internship Program
Perform cutting edge research with world-renowned Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) scientists and engineers in Washington D.C. to strengthen America’s naval defense.
Sponsored by the Department of the Navy (DoN) and supported by The Washington Center, this immersive, paid internship program will further develop your skill set for careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Many research projects have the potential to make a significant impact in the scientific and global community.
Summer 2024 Program Dates:
Tuesday May 28, 2024 through Friday, August 2, 2024
(Summer only, ten weeks)
(No work on federal holidays)
2024 Stipend:
$8,900 for undergraduate students
$11,200 for graduate students
Housing option available (low cost, deducted from stipend; see website for details)
Pre-tax; health insurance not provided
Bi-weekly direct deposit during internship
Eligibility
U.S. citizens only. Dual citizens (those holding citizenship with more than one country) are not eligible for the program
Maintaining a 3.0+ cumulative GPA
Ability/willingness to pass NRL-coordinated background/security check
Applicant material will be reviewed by NRL staffers
Must commit to 37-40 hours/week for entire internship duration (part-time not permissible)
