Mercy Corps and USAID Minority-Serving Institution Partnership – Summer 2024 Global Internships

After over two years in development, we are excited to officially announce our groundbreaking Minority-Serving Institution (MSI) partnership with USAID! This partnership will aim to increase internship opportunities abroad in international development for students at Minority-Serving Institutions in the United States. Since Summer 2020, Mercy Corps has been building valuable relationships with both Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) partners through the development of specialized internship opportunities designed in collaboration with their communities. This Summer 2024 the next stage of this important work will move forward with Mercy Corps internship opportunities for all MSI students working on USAID-funded programs around the world, starting with the MSI Knowledge Management Internship in Liberia working with USAID on the Incentivize Learning Activity (ILA) program!

The aim of our MSI engagement has always been to give promising students of color the opportunity to explore careers in international development, while opening lasting relationships within the Mercy Corps world. On the Mercy Corps end, we hope these MSI internships will continue to grow the diversity landscape of the agency as a whole, starting with a critical pipeline of talent: our entry-level talent bench.
