The Market Risk Intern will assist in managing the Bank’s income forecasting function to provide ongoing analysis of the Bank’s future profitability and income sensitivity under a variety of business and interest rate scenarios. Provide accurate, reliable and timely measurement of the Bank’s exposure to market risk. Assist in policy formulation, documentation and developing analyses and reports in adherence to the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management policy.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with maintaining the Bank’s income forecasting model and ensure accuracy and integrity of data inputs, EUC applications, modeling processes and reports, including the periodic implementation of model enhancements or new models as required.
- Produce daily/monthly market risk reports; Prepare/verify market data and securities information for the risk model. Assist with identifying and gathering market information and check the validity of the information with multiple market sources.
- Produce monthly analyses of the Bank’s earnings outlook over a five-year rolling time horizon and under a wide variety of interest rate and business mix scenarios.
- Analyze differences between ongoing forecast results and reconcile actual vs. projected earnings performance to ensure reliability of the forecast results to identify sources of changes in the Bank’s projected profitability.
- Assist in preparing periodic reports and in-depth analyses of the Bank’s risk exposure and impacts of tactical and strategic alternatives for managing those exposures.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- BA degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics or related field is required, Advance degree preferred.
- 1+ years of work experience related to financial risk measurement and fixed income analytics. Asset/liability management (ALM) experience, modeling skills and experience with some ALM financial software (PolyPaths, QRM, etc.) is preferred.
- Proficient in VBA, SQL and MS Office Suite, ability to create queries and macros from scratch to automate data manipulation and reporting process.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (emphasis on Excel with the ability to create and maneuver spreadsheets and data).
- Excellent interpersonal, communications and organizational skills combined with ability to plan, organize and carry out multiple project assignments.
