Title: Psychology of Self & Learning Instructor [Virtual]
Course Description:
In this course, scholars will dive into the fascinating world of psychology, exploring human behavior and how we learn. They will explore psychological theories, gain insights into themselves, and discover ways to improve their learning skills. Through fun discussions and activities, students will explore topics such as memory, motivation, and emotional intelligence, helping them succeed in school and beyond.
About: Fall 2024 Semester | 3 Credit-Bearing Internship | Unpaid
Schedule:
- Live Instruction: Saturdays from 10:30-2:30 PM
- Weekly Staff Meetings
- Bi-Weekly 1:1 Meetings
Number of Vacancies: For the Fall 2024 semester, we are looking to hire 2 instructors to co-lead this course
About Position:
Our Psychology of Self & Learning Instructors will:
- Develop a syllabus for their course (focused on the sessions you will teach)
- Develop a unique curriculum for your students (be creative, fun, and responsive to the students you are serving)
- Develop a final project for students (more information on this during orientation)
- Be responsible for directly instructing a group of 10-15 students during each period
- Cultivate a community in your classroom focusing on students’ social and emotional growth
- Work with a program counselor that will be assigned to your class
- Provide feedback to students (on any projects or activities)
- Be responsive to student and staff emails
Qualifications:
Candidates applying for this role should:
- Be an enrolled undergraduate student at an accredited 4-year college or Master’s program
- Be able to receive academic credit for the internship (we cannot accept volunteers)
- Be available to commit to our Saturday programming – make sure to check any other commitments before applying!
- Be passionate about working with students from different backgrounds and experiences
- Be committed to working independently during the rest of the internship time not in synchronous sessions
- (+) Plus if you are bilingual
- (+) Plus if you have had previous mentoring/teaching experience
